SSP Keamari Captain (R) Faizan Ali Monday said that police have made significant progress in several high-profile cases.
Addressing a press conference, he said a robbery had taken place in the Fisheries area of Docks where more than Rs. 15.2 million and thirteen company cheques were looted. Through street cameras and bank footage, police traced the culprits. Shahrukh alias Shahroz was arrested from Ittehad Town, while another suspect, Usman Ghani, was caught in Korangi. So far, around Rs. 2 million have been recovered. Details of five more suspects, Nazro, Sabir, Adil, and Sohail alias Bengali, have been obtained, and raids are underway for their arrest.
SSP Faizan Ali further stated that on August 9, a man named Jameel was killed during a robbery attempt. From the crime scene, a motorcycle was recovered, and it was revealed that one of the culprits was dressed in police uniform. Two suspects have been arrested in this case and sent to jail. Jameel owned a currency exchange shop on Tariq Road, where the main accused was employed as a security guard. The guard tipped off his accomplices when Jameel left with cash, leading to the fatal attack.
In another operation, police recovered four weapons, including a Kalashnikov and a pistol, along with ammunition during snap-checking on Sunday night. The arms were meant to be delivered to a man named Akbar. Suspect Shehzad and two women, Nusrat and Mukhtaran Bibi, were taken into custody. CTD and other agencies are assisting in the investigation.
Meanwhile, in a separate raid near Siemens Chowrangi on Sunday night, police seized 21 kilograms of hashish from a car.
