Leaders and workers of the Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were joined by traders’ associations in a joint agitation against price hike of petrol, electricity and gas. The protesters raised slogans against the incumbent government. The People’s Traders Cell had organised this agitation against the recent price hike. PPP Secretary Information Sagheer Butt and ex-general secretary Rana Hanif represented the PPP, while the PML-N was represented by Mian Akram, Mriza Saleem. The traders’ associations were represented by Aman Ullah Butt, Shabbir Kamboh and others. Protesters were holding banners with slogans against price rise. Current govt has all policies which are anti-public and are made based on the directives of international monetary organisations, they said. The protesters said that medicine, food and other consumable items were getting expensive on a daily basis. Country’s economy is at its worst, industrial units are shutting down and govt has no policy, which may help poor people meet both ends, they said. They said that the prime minister had already admitted that his team was incapable, and it had failed to give any relief to the masses.
